Practicing discernment

Much of what I do comes down to one thing: consciously choosing and supporting what gives life, over what dims it. Moving away from what diminishes potential.

That sounds big, and while it can be quite the hassle at times, it lives in small things. When you see it, you can’t not see it.

It’s in looking for that moment when eyes light up. Noticing the instant movement toward or away from something. It’s taking a right turn instead of a left, when things look brighter on the right (try it!). It’s deciding what needs to leave your calendar so it doesn’t constrict your mojo. In a conversation that opens instead of shuts down. In a rhythm that follows what’s already there, in your body, in the year, instead of imposing a construct that ignores your truth.

Discernment is exactly this to me: feeling the difference between the two and then actually choosing the life-giving one over the one that is considered normal, but is life-dimming. Don’t negotiate with yourself, don’t re-argue it every time. When you know it, act on it.
